The Notre Dame was the centerpiece of our most recent family trip to Paris. Our rental was across the street so we listened to its bells as we prepared meals and went inside at least a handful of times even after our guided walking tour. The kids drew pictures of it (and still do). When Betsy told them about the fire they had a surprisingly strong reaction given it’s been over a year since our trip but they do still build Notre Dames out of Legos and it’s likely the first trip our daughter will remember so it does have special meaning to our family.
We join much of the world in the loss of such a monument to history and culture. We consider ourselves lucky to have been able to visit it and learn about it in great detail and look forward to future trips as it is restored.
